This is a new section of the site called "User Reviews".

I will be inviting members of prominent Owner Groups on Facebook to write a honest and independent review about their personal grills and smokers.

Up next is Rolfe Gatchell from the Traeger Grills groups with his review of the Traeger Lil' Tex Elite.

Don't forget to check out the amazing food photos Rolfe submitted at the bottom!

In 2006 my wife bought me a WSM for Christmas and I've been smoking ever since. Love it and still use it , but always wanted something with more room. So walking through Costco one day Treager had a display. Came back 2 days later and bought the Lil' Texas elite. I've had it almost 5 years and love it.

So far I've had  no mechanical issues. When I first started using it the only problem I had was that the fire pot would occasionally go out.

So shut off clean out pellets start over. Not a big problem.

But did a little research and thought maybe it's the pellets.

So I switched to Cookingpellets, that's the brand name. Much better made, virtually no sawdust in bag as with Traeger's. Haven't had a problem since.

The thermostat has 25 degree increments , smoke setting to 400.  Most of the time it's within a 5 degrees, but sometimes 10 maybe 15 degrees.

I added the cooking, front , and bottom shelves. Wanted more cooking space so I reversed the brackets and added a second top shelf.

It can now hold 6 racks of ribs, 2 briskets etc.

Smoking, reverse searing, pizza. I've used the Traeger for everything. Haven't used it for baking yet.

Couple little tricks I have learned.

So yes, the smoke flavor is mild, so I put slices of wood directly on baffle for a little extra flavor.

Easy way to mix woods also.

When making pizza, put rolled out raw dough directly on grate till it just starts to bubble.Take off and make pie for that wood fired flavor."

Rolfe has kindly supplied us with some great photos of dish's he has cooked with his Traeger:

That was a great review by Rolfe with some very useful insights.
